Zhou Feng was born in 1961 into an artistic family in Xiamen. The following year, he took the stage at the Spring Festival Gala to perform a solo and was named one of the “Twelve Stars of the Chinese Music Scene.”His album *The Allure of the Eyes* sold out in physical stores, and another song, *Pear Blossoms Bloom Again*, deeply moved many wanderers living far from home.
Just as his career was reaching its peak, Zhou Feng chose to study abroad in the United Kingdom, setting aside his then-soaring fame to focus on further developing his professional skills.
After moving to the United Kingdom, Zhou Feng lived in extreme poverty and faced great hardship, which led him to develop depression. When news of his mother’s death reached him in 2011, his last remaining connection to the public sphere was completely severed.
Zhou Feng has never capitalized on his past popularity to generate traffic, nor has he repeatedly performed his old hits to cash in on nostalgia, nor has he clung to the empty fame and fleeting gains of his heyday.
