At Qiu Likuan’s birthday party in July 2026, a young man standing 1.85 meters tall with tattoos covering his arms was standing in a corner. Most of the guests exchanged puzzled glances, and no one dared to approach him—he was Qiu Huangyi,who was just 39 days old when Chen Baolian fell to her death in 2002.
The winter of 2002 in Shanghai was unusually damp and cold. Twenty-nine-year-old Chen Baolian passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind her infant son. The identity of the child’s biological father remained a mystery, and the relatives and friends who had previously claimed they would care for the child all shied away; no one was willing to take on this heavy burden, and the child was nearly sent to an orphanage.
At a critical moment, Qiu Li-kuan stepped in to take the child into her own home to care for him. The infant who nearly ended up in an orphanage back then has, by the age of twenty-three, firmly established himself in Taiwan’s hip-hop scene, independently creating music and securing commercial partnerships—taking each step with confidence and determination.
The tattoo on Qiu Huangyi’s arm depicts the date of his biological mother’s last public appearance. Whenever anyone asks him about his background or past, he gently changes the subject; he has never sought attention by drawing on his unique personal experiences.
After graduating from Shih Hsin University, he successfully joined a major hip-hop label and released music under the stage name Don Don.In 2024, he was invited by a brand to compose an advertising jingle, though he never made a big deal out of it. Compared to many young artists who generate buzz by capitalizing on their family backgrounds, this unhurried and down-to-earth demeanor has instead become his most distinctive trait.
He once candidly mentioned in a public interview that Qiu Li-kuan was the true mother in his heart.
